Lake District Cottages

This is part two of our Lake district series! If you’re looking for the best area to stay in, head over to our guide on “Where to stay in the Lake District“. In this part, we’ll be sharing some of our favourite Lake District cottages with you. And if you’re looking for things to do, head over to our part III of this series!

Apart from being the UK’s largest “outdoor playground” with its peaks, moors, waterfalls, lakes, and forests, it has also lots of history. And with many buildings dating back to the 17th century, you can imagine that a proper stay in the Lake district will include one of those charming little cottages that are so typical for the area.

Add to this historic towns, cobble stones, overhanging gables, and medieval squares and you will definitely enjoy your stay in one of the cute Lake District cottages.

At the end of the page you will find a list of our favourite booking sites!

The beauty of self-catering cottages is that you get the ultimate feeling of freedom. You will also feel much more like a local than if you stayed in a hotel.

If you’re still set on luxury, then perhaps a cottage with a hot tub with views and champagne in hand might convince you.

Most Lake District cottages are also very pet friendly and you would most likely be supporting the local community by renting their cottages. Now, if you’re thinking, “Ok, fine. But I actually wanted to go with friends…” Don’t worry, there are lots of bigger cottages that will fit multiple people.
