What To Do In The Maldives?

What to do in the Maldives

The Maldives are a group of over 1000 islands in the Indian Ocean. They are an extremely popular tourist destination thanks to their unparalleled natural beauty. Also because of their great cuisine and friendly locals!

Only 200 of the islands are inhabited. However, 90 of them have luxury resorts! Certainly, the Maldives appeal mostly to tourists who prefer a more relaxed holiday set in a tropical paradise. Here are a few of the best things to see and do:

  1. UNDERWATER DINING
    • Of course, this little paradise has taken eating out to the next level. There are many restaurants that offer tourists a number of underwater dining options. For example, the Ithaa restaurant on Rangali Island. But also Subsix, SEA and M6M on several different islands. If this isn’t luxury dining, what is?

    • The restaurants offer a variety of cuisine ranging from European to continental, fusion, seafood and others. Additionally, some of the restaurants have underwater wine cellars and even offer champagne breakfasts! All restaurants offer panoramic views of the ocean. So you can have gorgeous views while dining “out”. Or rather “under”?

  2. DOLPHIN SPOTTING
    • The Maldives are home to several species of dolphins including the Spinner, Bottlenose and Risso dolphins. They can be viewed on a dolphin spotting tour and some of the best places to do this are the Muli Channel in the Meemu Atoll and the Rihiveli Beach.

  1. SAMPLE LOCAL CUISINE
    • While most resorts offer continental or European cuisine, it is possible to experience local cuisine on some local islands. Popular island dishes include:
      • Mas Huni, a breakfast dish made from chopped tuna, coconut, chilli and onion served on a flat bread
      • Garudhiya, a delicious fish soup
  1. THE PIANO DECK AT BAROS MALDIVES
    • A deck shaped like a piano sits off the coast of Baros Maldives. And surrounded by white canopies flowing in the wind, it makes for the ultimate romantic feel. It’s a popular spot for couples who want to enjoy fine dining while enjoying the beauty of the ocean.
